Be The Movement

Don't Wait for the Change...Live It!

Let’s be honest—have you ever found yourself waiting? Waiting for things to get better. Waiting for the right opportunity. Waiting for the perfect time to step out in faith.

Helping hands

We do it all the time, don’t we?

We wait for revival.

We wait for someone else to go first.

We wait for the conditions to be “just right” before we move.

But here’s the thing—Jesus never called us to wait for a movement. He called us to be the movement.

I don’t know about you, but I’m done waiting. The world doesn’t need more followers of Jesus sitting on the sidelines. It needs followers of Jesus who will get in the game—right now—flawed, imperfect, still learning, but ready to be used by God.

That’s what our new sermon series, Be the Movement, is all about. It’s not just a series—it’s an invitation. It’s a call to step into the life God designed you for. It’s a reminder that you and I are part of something so much bigger than ourselves, and that we don’t have to be perfect to make an eternal impact. We just have to be present.

So let’s talk about it.

Join the Movement

Matthew 9:35–38

Picture this: Jesus is walking through towns and villages, teaching, healing, loving people no one else even noticed. And then… He turns to His disciples and says, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest field.”

Can you hear the urgency in His voice?

This isn’t a casual, “Hey, maybe we could help some people if we get a chance.” This is Jesus saying—now’s the time. People are hurting. People are searching. People are ready to hear hope, to see love in action.

And here’s the twist—we are the workers He’s talking about. Not “those people over there” or “the more qualified Christians.” Us. You. Me.

So, what’s stopping us?Fear? Busyness? Feeling unprepared?

If Jesus could take fishermen, tax collectors, and ordinary people with messy pasts and turn them into a movement that changed the world, He can absolutely use you.

The movement starts when we stop saying, “Somebody should…” and start saying, “Here I am, send me.”

Found People Find People

Luke 15:1–7; John 1:43–46

Think about the moment you met Jesus. Maybe it was in a church service, maybe it was through a friend, maybe it was in the middle of your lowest point. You remember what it felt like, don’t you? The relief. The hope. The joy of realizing you were seen, loved, forgiven.

So why would we ever keep that to ourselves?

In Luke 15, Jesus tells the story of a shepherd who leaves 99 sheep to go after the one that’s lost. That’s not logical. That’s not efficient. But it is love.

And in John 1, we see something simple but powerful—Philip meets Jesus, and the first thing he does is find his friend Nathanael and say, “Come and see.”

Found people find people. That’s the movement.

We’re not called to have all the answers. We’re called to point people to Jesus. You don’t have to be a Bible scholar. You just have to be willing to say, “I’ve met Him. He changed my life. Come and see.”

Show Up Where People Are

Matthew 5:13–16

Jesus said we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. You know what that means? It means we’re meant to show up in dark places, in messy situations, in real life where people actually live.

Salt doesn’t do any good sitting in the shaker. Light doesn’t make a difference if it’s hidden under a bowl.

This is where compassion meets action. It’s where we get out of our comfort zones and into the streets, the schools, the workplaces, the neighborhoods where people need to see the love of God in flesh and blood—through you.

Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is simply show up.

Not with an agenda. Not with a sermon ready to preach. Just with a willingness to listen, to love, to help, to serve.

Everyday People, Everyday Mission

Colossians 3:17; Acts 3:1–10

Here’s something we forget—missionaries aren’t just the people we send to other countries.

Everyday people can be missionaries every day.You don’t need a passport to live on mission. You just need to see your everyday life as your mission field.

Peter and John were just walking to the temple when they met a man who couldn’t walk. They didn’t have money to give him, but they gave him something better—hope, healing, and the name of Jesus.

You never know when an ordinary day will turn into an extraordinary moment for the Kingdom.Every conversation. Every act of kindness. Every decision to forgive. Every choice to show grace. That’s how movements grow.

Be Bold, Led by the Spirit

Acts 4:8–13, 29–32

Let’s be real—living on mission takes courage. It’s not always comfortable. Sometimes it’s risky.

Peter and John stood before powerful leaders who wanted to silence them. But they didn’t back down, because they were filled with the Holy Spirit.

The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you. That means boldness isn’t about personality—it’s about presence. His presence in you.

When the Spirit leads, you don’t have to fear the outcome. You just have to take the step. And when you do, it inspires others to do the same.

The Ripple Effect

2 Timothy 1:1–2; Acts 19:8–10

Movements don’t end when the event is over or the series wraps up. They keep going—rippling out through relationships, communities, and generations.

Paul poured into Timothy. Timothy poured into others. The gospel spread across entire regions because ordinary people lived sent.

That’s the vision for Be the Movement—not just a burst of inspiration, but a lifestyle of mission.

When you live sent, you’re not just part of a movement—you become the movement. And that changes everything.

The Serve Weekend — Where Faith Meets Action

In the middle of this series, we’re putting our faith into practice with a church-wide serve weekend. This isn’t just a “nice event.” It’s a declaration: We’re here for our community.

Families, small groups, individuals—we’re all going to roll up our sleeves and meet real needs with real love.

Why? Because the gospel isn’t just something we preach—it’s something we live. And when people see it lived out, they start to believe it’s real.

Present, Not Perfect

If you take nothing else from this, take this: God’s not waiting for you to get your life perfectly together before He uses you.

The movement is made up of imperfect people who said “yes” to a perfect God.

You don’t have to know everything. You don’t have to have the right words. You just have to be present, willing, and open to what God can do through you.

An Invitation You Can’t Ignore

So here’s my question—are you going to keep waiting?

Waiting for a better time.

Waiting until you feel ready.

Waiting for someone else to start.

Or are you going to be the movement?

Because the truth is, you’re already part of something bigger. You’ve already been sent. And your life—right now—can ripple out to eternity.

I’m inviting you—not just to attend a series—but to join a movement. To live on mission. To be bold. To step into the harvest. To let God use your everyday life for His extraordinary purposes.

Be the Movement starts Sunday, Oct. 26th. Six weeks that could change the way you see your faith, your purpose, and your world.

I’ll see you there. Let’s go make history together!
