Finding Your Way

Lost and Found: A Journey to "Finding Your Way"

Have you ever been completely, utterly lost?

I'm not talking about the "my GPS isn't working" kind of lost (though that's definitely annoying). I'm talking about the deep-down, soul-level lost—where you're moving through life, checking all the boxes, but something just feels... missing.

Listen to how Rob talks about it.

When Rob’s Map Stopped Making Sense

life map

I had the job, the apartment, the friend group, the Instagram-worthy weekend adventures. By all external measures, I was crushing it. Marketing career? Check. Social calendar? Full. Life plan? Seemingly on track.

But inside? That's where things got complicated.

I remember sitting in my car one evening after a particularly exhausting day at work. I had just nailed a presentation that morning, hosted a client lunch, and wrapped up a major campaign proposal. I should have felt accomplished. Instead, I felt hollow.

"Is this it?" I whispered to no one in particular. "Is this all there is?"

Let me tell you, that's a terrifying question when you've built your entire life according to what should make you happy.

The truth is, I was navigating with an incomplete map. I knew how to get from point A (college) to point B (career) to point C (success)... but I had no idea where I was actually heading in the bigger picture. Or why.

Sound familiar?

An Invitation Can Change Everything

Rob needs a friend to invite him to Mt Ridge. Not just any church service—the first week of our new series called "Finding Your Way."

Do you know a Rob? Someone who has most things working…except for the most important thing? Your friend may come thinking they know what to expect, an outdated set of religious platitudes and some judgement. They may even come with an exit strategy planned.

This series may give them what they aren’t prepared for; hearing about a Jesus they don’t recognize

Not the Jesus I Thought I Knew

See, most have this mental image of Jesus—a distant historical figure, a set of impossible rules, someone who had nothing to do with work deadlines or existential crises.

Many don’t know the reason they don’t trust Jesus is simple. They don’t know Jesus, not the real Jesus.

When it turns out Jesus is "the Bread of Life" not in a weird, religious way, but as one who satisfies our deepest hungers—for purpose, for meaning, for connection it hits hard.

Something in that resonates with everyone’s empty-despite-being-full life.

Each Sunday unpacking a different name Jesus used for Himself we get to know Him better:

  • The Light of the World when I felt surrounded by confusion

  • The Door when I felt stuck with no way forward

  • The Good Shepherd when I need to find peace

  • The Resurrection and the Life when parts of me felt dead inside

  • The Way, the Truth, and the Life when I needed direction

  • The True Vine when I felt disconnected

Every name revealed another facet of who Jesus is—not who theyI'd been told He was, but who He actually claimed to be. And slowly, the map of life started to make more sense.

Why I'm Inviting You  to "Finding Your Way"

This series can change the trajectory of your life. Not in a dramatic, quit-your-job-and-move-to-another-country way. But in the way you approached each day, each decision, each relationship.

I know what you might be thinking: "I'm not a church person." "I've heard it all before." "I don't have time for religion." "What could this possibly have to do with my actual life?"

This isn't about religion. It's about relationship. This isn't about checking spiritual boxes. It's about finding your way. This isn't about judgment. It's about journey.

The More You Know, The More You Trust

There's this theme running through the entire series: the more you know, the more you trust.

Think about it in human terms—do you trust strangers implicitly? Of course not. You trust people as you get to know them—their character, their reliability, their heart.

It's the same with Jesus. It's hard to trust someone you don't really know. And many of us are trying to navigate life with a Jesus-shaped void—or worse, a distorted view of who He actually is.

That's what this series addresses head-on. Who is Jesus, really? What did He actually say about Himself? And what difference could knowing Him make in your day-to-day life?

What to Expect

Let me break down what you can expect when you join us:

  • Relatable messages: No religious jargon or holier-than-thou speeches. Just honest conversations about real life.

  • Welcoming environment: Wear what's comfortable. Bring your coffee. No one will judge your outfit or your past.

  • Practical takeaways: Each week connects to actual, lived experience—not abstract theology.

  • No pressure: You can observe, question, process. This is a journey, not a test.

But beyond the Sunday experience, there's something even more exciting happening this time around.

49 Days to Know Jesus Better

During the series, we're launching a digital companion—49 days of exploring the names of Jesus. Way beyond the seven we'll cover on Sundays.

I've had a sneak peek at this tool, and it's incredible. Each day takes just 5-10 minutes but gives you a deeper understanding of another facet of who Jesus is. Some days it's an ancient name from Hebrew scriptures. Other days it's a name His followers called Him. Each one helps complete the picture.

You'll get:

  • A short reading

  • A simple reflection question

  • An invitation to pray

It's designed for busy people (like me, like you) who want substance without overwhelming commitment. Use it on your commute, during your lunch break, before bed—whenever works for you.

The best part? It aligns with the Sunday messages but stands completely on its own. So even if you miss a week, you're still building that daily connection.

My "Bread of Life" Moment

Can I share something personal? The name that hit me hardest  was "Bread of Life."

We try to satisfy our deeper hungers with achievements, relationships, experiences—all good things, but none ultimately satisfying if they're all we're feeding on.

I have had seasons in my life where I found myself chasing accomplishment after accomplishment, experience after experience... and still feeling hungry.

Jesus said, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry" (John 6:35).

Never go hungry. What would that feel like? To not constantly need the next achievement, the next validation, the next experience to feel worthwhile?

This is when thing start shifting. Not all at once. But gradually, as we begin to know Jesus—the actual Jesus, not the caricature—we start trusting Him with bigger pieces of life. Our work anxieties. Our relationship patterns. Our need for control.

The more we know, the more we trust. And the more we trust, the more we find our way.

Who Could You Bring Along?

Who in your life might need to find their way too?

Is it your stressed-out coworker who seems to have it all together but confides in you about feeling empty?

Your friend who's going through a major life transition and feels lost?

Your family member who's asking deeper questions about purpose and meaning?

Or maybe it's you—the person who's been trying to navigate life with an incomplete map.

The beautiful thing about finding your way is that it is better when we do it together. Your invitation could transform someone’s life.

You Don't Have to Have It All Figured Out

Let me be completely transparent: I still don't have it all figured out. Not even close.

I still have questions. I still have doubts. I still have days where I feel lost.

But the difference is that I'm not navigating alone. I've discovered that Jesus—the Way, the Truth, and the Life—is a better guide than my own limited understanding.

And honestly? That's what this series is about. Not arriving at perfect answers, but finding a perfect guide.

Your Personal Invitation

So here it is—my personal invitation to you:

Join me for "Finding Your Way," starting next Sunday. Come as you are. Bring your questions. Bring your doubts. Bring your incomplete map.

Let's discover together who Jesus really is—beyond religious stereotypes and cultural assumptions. Let's explore what He actually said about Himself and what difference it could make in our everyday lives.

The more you know, the more you trust. And sometimes, knowing where to start is the hardest part of finding your way.

I'll save you a seat. And maybe some coffee.

See you Sunday.

Finding Your Way starts next Sunday • No previous church experience necessary!
